“SEAN IS OUR ABSENT FRIEND: WE SALUTE AND HONOUR A MAN WHOSE HERITAGE WAS AUSTRALIAN. HE WAS THE SON OF THE AUSTRALIAN ACTOR ERROL FLYNN. SEAN DISAPPEARED WHILE ON A PHOTOGRAPHIC ASSIGNMENT ON APRIL 6TH 1970, NEAR CHI POU IN EASTERN CAMBODIA, AN EARLY VICTIM OF THE KHMER ROUGE. SEAN WENT TO VIETNAM TO FIND HIMSELF, IN THE PROCESS HE BECAME A PROFICIENT PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE WAY THAT ºSOUTH EMULATES. IN DEATH, SEAN HAS BECOME A LEGENDARY FIGURE BUT HIS PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK IS LARGELY UNKNOWN. IN LIFE, HE WAS DETERMINED TO BECOME A SERIOUS PHOTOJOURNALIST. HE TAUGHT HIMSELF TO USE A CAMERA, SPENT NEARLY FOUR YEARS IN VIETNAM AND ALSO COVERED THE SIX DAY WAR ON THE ISRAELI SIDE. ALONG WITH TIM PAGE, SEAN WAS PART OF THE BAND OF BROTHERS WHO LIVED IN ‘FRANKIE’S HOUSE’ IN SAIGON.”
